Hare & Hound Series

The Hare and Hounds is a series of 5 races held monthly over the Winter, being run by Southampton Canoe Club. It is based on a time trial format. Everybody is welcome to take part in any type of kayak or canoe.

The slowest paddlers start first, and then each individual’s time is taken into account and set off accordingly with the aim of everybody finishing at the same time. This makes for a very exciting event, in which no one is left behind on the water.

There are two distances from which to choose: 2 miles (1 long lap) and 5 miles (2 long laps and 1 short lap)

Short Course

Start at Woodmill paddle downstream to the red post just before the railway bridge. Turn anti clockwise round the red post and return to Woodmill. (2 miles)

Long Course

Start at Woodmill paddle downstream to the red post just before the railway bridge. Turn anti clockwise round the red post and return to Woodmill. Paddle this circuit for 2 laps. Then return down steam to the buoys out St Denys sailing and Rowing Club. Then return to Woodmill. (5 miles)
